I am from Mongolia and now live in Sarasota, Florida. This project brings those two places together, using weather data to explore how different their seasons, temperatures, and rainfall patterns can be.
Quick background
My work focuses on translating raw environmental data into clear, readable stories about climate and place. This website compares the daily weather record of Sarasota, Florida, and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to highlight differences in temperature, seasonality, and rainfall across the same time window.
Data Source
This project uses historical hourly weather data from Meteostat, a public weather data service that aggregates observational records from meteorological stations around the world. The analysis compares hourly temperature and precipitation observations from Sarasota, Florida (station KSRQ0) and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia (station 44292) over a shared multi-year period. The data were accessed through the Meteostat Python API and then cleaned and visualized for comparison in this website. For more information, see Meteostat, the Meteostat API documentation, and the station records for Sarasota and Ulaanbaatar.
